Spy shots discovered! Back on May 26th I posted this teaser of the forthcoming rubber watches from Nixon. Now, additional spy shots have been posted by Watchismo. This time the Rubber 51-30 (not to be confused with the 51-30 PU) is shown in 3 color-ways and the Murf is also pictured. Enjoy!

Don't call it a comeback...

The New York Times wrote and interesting article recently regarding the resurgence of watches among the younger generations.

I'm sure everyone knows people who primarily check the time when they need on their cell phone, ipod, laptop, etc. Watches began to lose popularity and appreciation as technology improved and became increasingly portable. Over the last few years the technology driven youth generations have begun to take an appreciation for fine timepieces as fashion statements and methods of expression similar to any accessory.

The article is right on point with my opinion regarding watches for the past several years. I love that this is becoming a mainstay in the fashion world for those in the know.

Nixon x Gumball 3000 Unit

Last year Nixon made a pair of sick collaboration watches exclusively for the Gumball 3000. They did a rubber player and a run of 300 drivers-only 51-30's. This year they have done it again. The watch available to the public is a black/gold version of Nixon's Unit and as a prize to those who win the "sprint of gumball" award they made custom co-branded Magnacons. Jonas Bevacqua of LRG Found Dead Today

There are not a lot of words to be said. Jonas was an innovator, pioneer, and influence. He helped make streetwear accessible. LRG is a glorious gate-way drug to the world of street fashion and Jonas it's master chemist. Love it or hate it the world has lost a creative mind today, one who had an impact on many people. Rest in peace, Jonas. Thank you for the happiness and the t-shirts. You will be missed.

New Nixon Watches - Passport, Axe, Synapse, Axis + More

Today, Nixon dropped several new watch models along with several new color-ways. To my surprise non-of these were from the Black/Gold or Surplus collection that the interwebs have been buzzing about. Some of the released watches have been rumored for some time now and others were a complete shock. The biggest surprise of all, The Passport; Nixon's first Analog world-time watch. In manly 49mm size, I'm fairly confident that I need one of those added to my collection.
