New Kidrobot Goods!

Look what the post man delivered! I checked out the new Family Guy X Kidrobot Toys recently and picked up a few extras as well. King Ken, Smorkin' Labbit, Dunny, and Fatcaps. The Fatcaps are pretty awesome. They are made out of faux spray paint caps and the best part... when you shake 'em it sounds like a can of paint! Check these out and more at http://www.kidrobot.com/.

Griffin Technology: Slap - Wristband for iPod nano (6th gen.)

Griffin has released a pretty slick version of a slap bracelet turned iPod nano case turned watch.

Here's what Griffin has to say about it:

"Remember the slap bracelet? Remember how much fun it was? We've brought it back. We've wrapped a memory-metal wristband with soft silky silicone. Slap's flexible, spring-steel band lies flat and rigid until you slap! it onto your arm. Snap Slap open, then snap Slap shut around your wrist. (Say that 10 times real fast.) The Slap band self-adjusts to a comfortable fit, exactly your size.
For your iPod, we've equipped Slap with a generous frame of silicone that holds your iPod securely and shrugs off bumps and jolts. Slap protects the dock connector and volume controls but leaves the headphone port open so you can plug in and listen any time. Speaking of time, you can press the Sleep/Wake button through the frame to check the time or control iTunes. The watch face display of your iPod nano turns Slap into a fun, handy classic timepiece.
Your iPod nano plus our Slap wristband case - together they create the most useful and entertaining wristwatch your arm has ever seen. "

BAPE Baby Milo X Original Fake KAWS Toy

Is anyone else getting into designer vinyl toys like me? They are growing in popularity and are fun to find and collect. More and more brands, artists, and collaborations are releasing limited edition toys. To me these are more of a collaborative art movement than just a toy; this is where streetwear and art collide. A Bathing Ape and Original Fake teamed up recently and will be releasing a dissected companion toy of KAWS X Baby Milo. Release date will be 2/26 in Bathing Ape/Original Fake stores, and probably on http://www.kawsone.com around the same time. Pics below. Enjoy.

KRINK x G-Shock in Signature Silver

If you don't know this yet you will learn that I am into watches. In such a way that if they were alcohol or drugs I would be attending meetings. Casio has been essentially whoring themselves out to just about any company willing to sign up for a collaboration. To most of them I find my saying "so what?" The only one I currently own is the G-shock x Hundreds x XLarge. However, this one caught my eye today and I must say it is one of the more interesting G-shock projects in recent history. Enjoy.

WALdok for the iPod Nano 6th Gen.

Being the proud owner of a 6th generation iPod Nano, I can say firsthand that a dock like this would be awesome. The size, the fact that it just plugs into an outlet and hangs on the wall, the idea that you can actually use the touch screen because the dock won't swallow the Nano whole... amazing. I want one of these for my office at work.

What do you think?

iPhone 5 Rumors: My thoughts

So there are tons of rumors flying around about the next iPhone which, if history is any indicator, will be released this June. Some rumors revolve around a slide out keyboard, larger screen, the inclusion of a smaller/less expensive iPhone into the line- perhaps a nano or mini, and more.

It would appear that a phone much smaller than the current iPhone would lose a good amount of usability and definitely a poorer web browsing experience. I doubt the next iPhone will have a slide out keyboard. It makes no sense for various reasons. The iPhone currently has the best software keyboard around. Also, it's tough to make a good looking phone with a slide out keyboard, they're usually pretty ugly. Apple is in the business of selling aesthetics so I'll be shocked if a slide out keyboard is included. However, I would put some money on a less expensive model being released such as a mini or nano. My theory is that this new, lesser model will be similar in size to the current iPhone, perhaps as small as a 3" screen and the iPhone 5 will actually be a larger device with at least a 4" screen. It makes sense considering many rumors discuss a complete redesign and a secondary model in the line. Watch and see come June!

Rumors about the iPhone 5:
Shrunken iPhone
Slide-out Keyboard
Larger Screen
Keyboard again
iPhone Nano
Smaller, Cheaper iPhone

You get the idea... What are your thoughts?

Nixon Fall 2011 Preview

This fall Nixon will be releasing two new watch styles known as the "Axe" and "Synapse," the latter supposing to have a digital touch screen. This is definitely a first for Nixon and could prove to be pretty ground breaking. Few companies have experimented with touch screen watches and all have been fairly unfortunately looking with functionality that may or may not be meaningless. The best looking touch screen watch to date is actually a custom watch band designed to hold a multi-touch ipod nano. This can be found HERE (Lunatik). Nixon's version of a touch screen watch appears reminiscent of their re-run watch. Hopefully this one has a bigger face and worthwhile functionality that takes a backseat to the form of the watch. Let's face it, Nixon is a style company. If they can get this right, there is hope for a new generation of watches.

In addition to their new watches, Nixon will be introducing new color-ways including all-black/gold, and military/olive green. Hopefully new materials and additional colors will be included. Give me a white faced Chronicle!
